kef kit 100 sub woofer question

Hi,i have the above kit just lying around.The kit is a 2.1 surround system and a seperate sub,i was wondering whether it is possible to utilize the sub for a 5.1 system,at the moment i have a mission fs2 speaker package fairly old but i am happy with them and the wife has no complaints as there thin and out of the way so i really dont want to change them.the only thing i would like to change is the sub .

Doubtful if the info from Kef's web site is correct.

There's only a couple 25pin D connectors rather than the more usual line input and speaker level inputs and outputs found on conventional stand alone subs. Even if you managed to work out the connections you still have no level and phase controls on that sub. All of that is handled by the Kef Kit 100 DVD/amp main unit.
