Do you need special type of lights for use in kickplates in a kitchen? Can you use normal recessed spots or are they not suitable because mounted in wooden kickplates?

I personally would advise against normal spots as they get incredibly hot, and will seriously burn the fingers of a curious young person. Some LEDs and CFLs also get too hot to touch

personally i think its a pretty silly idea but if you must then GU10 fittings with LED bulbs are probablly your best bet.

get some clear rope lights like you get at christmas and clip these in the corner of the kickboard and cabinet..
i'd use the non flashing and singing ones or it'll drive you potty.. can you imagine "jungle bells" every time you go to the kitchen for another beer or first thing while making the toast...?

IKEA also do an LED light strip designed to go under cabinets.. these are low voltage and are about 12 inches each..

Plinth lights.. Google is your friend..
