I want the ceiling in my kitchen skimmed, however it has seen bit of abuse over the years from various leaks from the bathroom (before we moved in)

As a consequence it appears 'swollen' in a couple of places, where water has pooled before finding a way out.

What do I need to do to get a nice flat smooth kitchen ceiling?

thanks

Depends how much damage the p/b has sustained! you may get away with cutting out the damaged parts patching in taping then it can be skimmed.

otherwise it may need completely re-sheeted.

Thats assuming it is gyproc of course

If its lath and plaster the swollen areas can be cut out and the same method above applied.
