hi can anyone tell me if kitchen cupboard paint is any good and if so can they give me some advice? This is the kitchen and the other is the colour of the hall so i will probably try to match them up some how
You need two different types of primer. One that will adhere to the laminate finish and one that will adhere to the varnished sections at the top and bottom.

Personally I would not want to apply any paint to a varnished surface without sanding it first, in spite of what the manufacturer says.
I would however add that if your final finish paint is waterbased, over time you will find that, where you pull the doors open, the fat/grease on your hands will soften the waterbased paint so much so that you can scrape it off with your finger nail.
