I am adding a kitchen extension and need to have a ventilation fan fitted to current regs.
Apart from the type that goes through a hole in the wall what others are available??? Integrated into cooker hood etc?? I have been told that the type that double as light fittings are rubbish??
Many thanks

Internal, Inline, External.

Internal to cooker hood. Look at the motor power consumption to get an idea on how powerful the extracter is for comparison with others.

External. Fits on the outer wall of the building, tends to be more powerful as it can be bigger then the cooker hood type.

I myself, have fitted a flat cooker hood type, into the nearby ceiling where there was more room for the flue. As if I had it as a cooker hood above the cooker at recommended distance, I would have had to vent through the roof tiles, and I didn't want that.
