kitchen floor tiles

I need to tile my floor in the kitchen and was wondering do i have to put a latex screed down first ? it concrete flooring and its preety even but it looks lke the tiles i pulld up had a screed under them , is it for damp protection

That'll be a levelling compound. You can tile straight onto concrete without any problems.
