Kitchen floor - what to choose?

hi guys,
Ive dug up the old kitchen floor back to the concrete base. I want a cottagey feel. Its small - about 8m squared.

I dont really want lino or laminate because both look and feel a bit cheap - but solid wood is working out too pricey.

I think tiles may be a bit noisy and cold underfoot. Im kinda going in circles as to what I should have. What would you guys go for and why?

Thanks dazlight - this stuff look interesting. Ill have a closer look later. I like the wood effects.
