Hi all,
I am installing a kitchen island at the moment with an integrated dishwasher at one end and wine cooler at the other end. There is a 300mm overhang on the rear for seating.

As there are no cabinets either end, I am wondering the best way to support the end panels until the quartz worktop is installed. Currently I have a piece of 3x2 studs with brackets in the middle and was going to put some angle brackets into the floor. I’ve attached some photos and the kitchen plan but wanted to check that is the correct way?

Thanks
Martin

Your set up looks good, as long as the panels can be scribed to fit under the worktop, or otherwise attached without leaving a gap that can't be disguised.

I'm making my own kitchen. I was surprised to discover that my integrated dishwasher doesn't actually fit in a housing, I decided to move it from the end to the middle of the run. I've done similar and connected things together with some 3x2's.

Looks ok, do you intend to board the rear over the timber or replace it? Is it in final position? Seems to be waste sticking out at rear?

Yes need to cut down the end panels to be flush. Need to put some more flooring down once I know where the back of the island is going. The back will create a void where the waste will sit.

Should I add angle bracket at the base into the floor? Just worried about the floating floor and preventing it moving

Few brackets won’t hurt , but if top of boards are braced correctly may not be necessary

I would fix the end panels through the floating floor and into the sub floor "providing you haven't got underfloor heating". Drill a 10mm hole for the screw to go through the floating floor to allow for expansion and contraction.

Above the dishwasher and wine cooler you can use carcass coloured material to form a front bar, these are better connected by using a Pocket Hole Jig with pocket hole screws fixed from above. Kregg make a relatively inexpensive pocket hole jig you purchase.
The front bars will hold the end panels along with the brackets in place and provide the required support for the worktop.

The dishwasher will be secured "to prevent tilt" into the side of the end panel and sink carcass and the wine coolers sometimes come with fixing points in the same manner as the dishwasher.
