Hi, about to install a 1600mm x 900 breakfast bar coming out at 90degrees to the wall.

First 300mm is open shelving that I’m making from an end panel, then 600 integrated washing machine, then 600 integrated drier.

Breakfast bar panel behind appliances and returned on the end of the appliances. Granite worktop to be installed after.

What’s the best way to support the granite and also to install the appliances? Build a cls frame behind the appliances and angle bracket end panels to the frame and floor between appliances?

olismith24, good evening.

Question? is the Granite W/T being fitted by a "Specialist"?

If so they will have a load of experience as regards the span that there material can extend to and what they "advise" as regards, span and support, there is a high probability that any competent installer / supplier will not fit a worktop without ensuring the worktop can be made stable and not fail giving the installer a load of grief and arguments with the customer.

Yes, they’re specialists.
Have worked with them before.

They obviously will expect it to be fully supported.

I’m trying to work out in my head how to get this supported before I ask them loads etc.

I'd be tempted to use something like speedframe to make a frame that adds support.
1" steel square tube with nylon/cast corners

olismith24, hi again.

Using what Tigercubrider proposes as above would work, but?

If it were me, I would ask the Installer what he recommends, after all the Supplier will have to guarantee his installation, so if you conform to the Suppliers needs and what he is satisfied with as regards a framing system then if anything goes pear shaped the Supplier cannot turn round and blame your frame ???

Ken

Thanks for your input guys. Will definitely speak to granite company.

Haven’t seen the speedframe before. Looks good. How does it work with fitting end panels and back panel? Screw straight into it with self tappers?

Have you any idea on price for a frame roughly 1600x600x900 high?

From your description you have built under appliances not intergrated as they require carcass.
