Kitchen sink mixer (Paini) leaking from handle and spout

Hi,

Our kitchen sink mixer is leaking from the handle and spout. The brand is Paini and the leak is on the left hand side which is cold.

I removed the ceramic cartridge valve at the weekend, I think that the rubber washer nearest the handle is too compressed which might be causing the leaking from the handle.

Is the leak from the spout caused by the ceramic cartridge valve? The part had written on it;

PAINI ASME
A112.18.1UPC
ANSI NSF61 GN90

I looked on Paini's website and found what might be the replacement cartridge valve - part 53CC581AD - 544 cartridge valve total cost delivered £16.48 is there not a cheaper alternative than replacing the whole cartridge valve?

Seems a bit excessive considering a new tap can be had for £40 or £50 delivered.

Here are a couple of pictures of the tap, looking for best recommended course of action. We would prefer to repair the tap since we like the look of it and it doesn't seem to be made any more.

The leak from the handle could mean a replacement cartridge or possibly a replacement o-ring or bit of ptfe tap. You will need to work out if it's leaking from the thread of the cartridge in which case you could tape it. If it's leaking out of the cartridge you will probably need to replace.

The spout may be removable. You will need to look on the back of the body of the tap just below the spout and there may be a grub screw. This will require a replacement o-ring which can usually be sourced from manufacturer or online. If the spout cannot be removed you will need to replace the tap or live with it. Check this out before buying a cartridge as you will be wasting money if it turns out you do need to replace the whole tap.
