We have had a kitchen fitted by a local firm, and the wall cabinets are set away from the wall, leaving a gap of about 20mm top and bottom. Tiling the space between the worktop and the cabinets means that the tiles are 'lost' into the gap, but the tile thickness is not sufficient to close the gap. When challenged, the fitter said this was necessary for air-flow. Is he right, or is this BS? Would it be ok to fit a quadrant tile trim around the base of the units to hide the gap?
Thanks for any help on this.

No ventilation required.white plastic quadrant is available [use in roofing, soffits etc] or to match timber units floor beading is available in many finishes. For end units end panels can cover the gap.

Many thanks for the prompt response. I shall try to get some tile trim quadrant to close the gap.
Thanks again
