Kitchen worktop

Hi all, I got a new kitchen worktop in oak and I'm wondering if it's possible to use ordinary soybean oil on it instead of tung oil, linseed oil etc.?
I know people who use soybean oil on their wood chopping boards, so can I use it on my oak worktop? What would the result be?
