My water storage tank in the attic had a faulty stop cock valve, which I successfully replaced. In the process of replacing the part I had to switch off the cold water supply from the stop tap inside the house. When I turned the tap back on and used the cold water tap the pipes in the house began to knock. This has got progressively worse and I was wondering whether anyone could advise me as to how I rectify the problem.

Did you replace or repair the stopcock?

Couple of possible easy solutions - close either or both your main stopcock and the new/repaired stopcock down a couple of turns

I replaced the stop cock on the tank with a new one as the old one just didn't work. I will try your suggestion this evening and let you know how it goes. Thanks for the advice

Thanks Newboy - that's seems to have done the trick. Much appreciated.
