Beyond the need for adding rsj support, are there many issues around knocking through a load-bearing wall which contains a fireplace? The wall seperates a dining room and recently-added conservatory and was originally an external wall.

Get a structural Engineer in to do calculations and drawings.
You will need this for Building Control.
Dont just bung in a rsj and knockout the wall, you wont be able to sell in the future if you do this
