Hi all.
I am going to put up kooltherm k18 on mf5 ceiling runners attached to the walls in my alcoves to insulate them a little.
I understand that kooltherm has a vapour barrier built in to protect against the condensation.

I have two questions.

Where the board is only 2.4 meters high and I will need a seperate cut out for another piece to the ceiling how should I join them to keep the vapour barrier intact?

Also where they butt up to the walls next to them should I put anything down the side to protect against the original hardwall and and moisture getting through.

Cheers all

The Kooltherm K18 Insulated Plasterboard does have an integral vapour barrier. To help avoid air leakage and to ensure vapour sealing, any gaps should be filled with expanding urethane sealant. You can also use standard plasterboard tape at any joints and then apply a plaster skim.
There are some details on the Kingspaninsulation.co.uk website which may help including best practice detailing around the skirting board.

The K18 should be mechanically fixed to treated timber battens or metal furings which will avoid moisture getting through. If, however, you are worried that your wall is damp, wet or is not in a good condition, then that must be remedied first.

Hope this helps.
