Laminate Flooring

You need to measure the floor area. Width X Height in meters = area.

Then look at the pack in the shop and it will say on it how many sq meters it contains. I.e this pack covers 1.2 sq meters.

Divide your figure by the figure on the pack to get the number of packs and round up.

Eg. your room is 3m x 2.6m = 7.8 sqm.
Pack size is 1.2 sqm so you need 7.8 / 1.2 = 6 packs exactly. I would therefore buy 7 packs so got room for error / wasteage.

Hope this helps.

Dont open the 7th pack unless required, if not required take it back.

Don't quite agree with the calculation here guys.

First, measure the area, like the above mentioned 3 x 2.6 = 7.8 sq m
Then, add saw-waste (also to cover errors in cutting boards, they do happen) of 7 - 10%, in small areas like these definitely 10%, because if you have to cut the last board length ways for say the last 10 cm, you do need boards for the whole 3 meters length of the room.

10% makes 8.58 sq m divided by the amount per pack (1.2 sq m) = 7.15 packs = 8 packs.
Diyisfun tip for not opening the last pack is a great one.
