We will shortly be getting a mini digger in to remove 260mm depth of soil from our front garden. Majority of the area will have 150mm of type 1 down and a drive laid on top, but we will be putting a border around the edge (about 500 wide) for a Laurel hedge.
I should add that we have ver heavy clay soil, not very far down. Whilst we aren't flooded, the existing lawn/topsoil has puddles.
When forming the bed for the laurel, is there any advantage in digging deeper than the 260mm (or shallower even). My concern is roots of the laurel lifting the block paving.
