Just wondered if its possible to play a dvd recording by connecting

the dvd to the laptop. ie using the pc as a monitor.

Can you not play the dvd on the laptop (ie does it have a dvd drive)

You will need a video input on the laptop, these do not come as standard. You could get an external USB video input to connect a dvd player to, but might be much easier, cheaper to get a standard dvd or combo drive and put it into a usb enclosure.
