Legal migration only of people we genuinely need.

Why is it so difficult for liberals to see sense?
Ok, so safe routes for everyone so that they can all be properly assessed/processed. I've been saying that all along, with the addition that genuine refugees should also get help.

Helping refugees is too open to abuse, and the numbers are theoretically a blank cheque. People need to sort their problems out in their own countries rather than expecting foreign taxpayers to subsidise them. Any refugees should be admitted on a temporary basis in strict (low) numbers. Liberal hand-wringing do gooders and ambulance chasing 'uman rights lawyers should be kept out of the whole process.

Yea, those abused women need to sort the Taliban out. They should make a stand, what on earth are they thinking about. And those Ukrainian children should march on Moscow. Timewasters.

Then it shouldn't be, proper and fast processing would help.

They haven't been in office for a year, yet all is doom n' gloom for the next GE.
Calm down n' carry on old Scot...
They're doing p1ss poor (in terms of public perception) straight out the blocks. If that's anything to go by, the next few years are going to be very interesting.

I'm perfectly calm btw ;)

Why is it so difficult for liberals to see sense?
Because, at heart, liberals would be happy with any number of anyone from anywhere coming in. I genuinely think that's it. Come one come all.

As someone said on a tv prog today, people that are genuinely fleeing a horrendous situation don't need to pass through x safe countries to get to the UK. i.e. they could be stopping their journey before risking life and limb to reach our shores.

These countries have had decades to build semi-decent socioeconomic conditions for their citizens. Too much corruption to make it a reality or constantly warring with neighbours and/or internally. Hence why their citizens flee ... to soft touch countries like us.

...The bleeding hearts and the artists Make their stand.

And when they've given you their all
Some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy
Banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall.

Genuine refugees I agree should receive help, it is the non genuine refugees that are clogging up the system and preventing those that are genuine receiving the help that they need.

It might be worthwhile for you to take a step back and look at the reasons why so many third worlds countries have the problems they do...

A lot of it has to do with the historical exploitation by western nations, including the setting up of arbitrary borders...

Throw into the mix the ongoing exploitation for resources (which now includes China) and of course the very lucrative arms trade, and you'll then understand that many of those problems (whether from war, famine, or economic reasons) have been directly or indirectly caused by ourselves!

And it will only get worse due to the climate and also from vastly reduced aid budgets.

People often ignore the actual causes and prefer to simply blame those 'pesky foreigners' over whatever issue they take umbrage with! ;)

Historical.

As I say, they've had decades to start putting it right, Not expecting them to be on a par with USA, UK etc, however they are rife with corruption and/or warring.

Will they still be blaming historic events a century from now?

Same old tired arguments over and over and over again.

So the 6% or so of those deemed not needing asylum should go..... where?

But the Conservatives decided to not process any asylum claimants, and to accomodate them all.

The empire biulding western nations taught them.

It's not just historical it's ongoing!

And how do you 'put it right' when your natural reserves have been/are being plundered?

As for corruption, then you don't have to look abroad for that

And as for the future, the west can borrow indefinitely to keep their corrupt system going...

The third world does not have that option, and has to do what they are told financially wise...

That causes more poverty and more unrest...

To believe otherwise is extremely naive thinking!

Btw, if they are always 'warring', who supplies them with the means to do so? ;)
