Hi
Our lawn which is about 55 sq mtr has been subjected to very heavy moss. Electric raker will arrive hopefully tomorrow and i will subject to weather permiting will rake and remove the moss and this will make the lawn bald! my wife needs help as to what she should be doing next alnd also on going basis to have a healthy lawn. If she has to seed the lawn then do mention what kind and make and any advise help will be appreciated.

To be honest if its very heavy moss killing it and scarifying alone will just temporarily make it a bit better. Almost all lawns i see are mossy because of 3 things, or a combination of them.

1. Drainage (usually just compaction rather than fundamental problem)
2. Shade
3. people cutting it too short

True drainage problems caused by very heavy clay soil will be expensive and difficult to sort out but in reality most lawns have poor drainage because they are terribly over compacted.

You should consider aerating the lawn to reduce this and top dressing with grit sand to improve the drainage.

There are endless guides on the interweb for lawn care so have a search and come back with specific queries if needed!
