Stupid question here, but, I have a Lawnflite mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine. Here's the silly question, can I change the oil with 5w30 which I have in my garage for cars? Or should I go and get some SAE30? I looked online for specifications but nothing was really clear. Thanks.

Ideally it's a straight 30 grade or a 10/40......the monograde oils keep their viscosity better in very hot engines.
No harm will come using 5/30 but do keep an eye on the oil level as it's a wee bit thinner.
John :)

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for your message. I went and bought proper oil from Toolstation. Cut the grass to get the engine hot, then tilted the mower to empty the oil, the refilled.
