The most successful model seems to have been what they did on the Greek islands. Some of those islands are only a few miles from Turkey. One year almost a million asylum seekers arrived from Turkey. They have managed to cut that by more than 95%.

If I really wanted to live in Spain and they said if I enter illegally I will never be allowed to live there, I wouldnt consider doing it illegally.

What bothers me just a tad, is all this talk about having a digital ID as an integral part of curbing illegal migration. How would this work with aged Luddites such as myself who flatly refuses to own and carry one of those highly intrusive smartphones? I have absolutely no need for such an intrusive device and I would flatly refuse to own one even to the point of being hauled before a Judge. Keelhauling was outlawed over a generation ago, so what would they do to give me a digital ID?

I think you should be put straight in prison, but unfortunately for everyone I don't make the rules.
