Hi all,
I have a small ensuite (about 1.5 x 1m) and due to credit crunch have decided to lay it myself.
The existing floor is chipboard in very good condition so after a lot of research I have decided to lay 6mm wsb ply.

I have read on here that you can use decorators caulk to fill the gaps/nail holes. Is that correct
The floor will go under the bath panel so i presume I dont need exspansion gaps?
Should i prime the ply?
and finally what adhesive should i use.

many many thanks in advance

ne expansion needed on the plywood. Use a feather finish compound to fill gaps/screw heads etc. Either acrylic or pressure sensitive glue. Karndean supply all these products, however you may be told to get from a approved retailer.

stikatac acrylic

when i googled that it said wooden floor glue

i did not make myself clear in the op
I have Karndean vinyl (fake wooden planks)

is this still the correct glue?

thanks

sticatak acrylic and wood glue are two different things. either you need to buy the correct glue from karndean or find an acrylic glue for vinyl flooring. B&Q do the acrlic i mentioned before.

Got you Matty
Thanks for that
the reason i asked was that when I did a google it came up with the wood glue (didnt think to check that they did other types0

I shall head up to B&Q today

wish me luck- i am certain I can do it but dont want to bodge it.
I am thinking if i struggle with the ply ( have to cut in around the loo and sink) then I will get an expert in for the karndean

We are having Amtico fitted into our ensuite next Friday. Karndean and Amtico is not cheap. If you DIY and make a mess of it you will be forever kicking yourself.

How has it gone, have you laid it yet?
We had our ensuite done on Friday. The guy put ply down first, made a template on some brown paper then fitted the ply. then he put some sort of screed all over the ply to fill in the screw holes / joins. Then he sanded the whole area before putting the Amtico down. He has done a FANTASTIC job, even around the quadrant shower tray and toilet it is perfect.
