Hi everybody, I am very new to this so please excuse me if I am repeating a post. My husband and I are laying a solid oak floor over a very old tiled kitchen floor it was laid about 60 years ago over a concrete sub floor the tiles are 9"x9" and about 3/4" thick, my question do we need to get them up [ I hope not ] put a ply or membrane down. We are continuing the floor from one we have already laid on a concrete sub floor that we had put self leveling compound down that one was glued down and we are hoping to do the same in the kitchen. I have read on sites on how to lay solid floors you can should not lay a solid floor onto tiles , I am hoping these are substantial enough that we can.
