Hi i wonder if someone could just give me some info. We currently have in our kitchen carpet tiles on top of quarry tiles, this was just a short term fix till we could afford something better.

We are now looking at putting some new flooring down depending on what we can afford. We know it would cost a bomb to take all the quarry tiles and start fresh so we are looking at putting down either ceramic tiles or lino (vinyl flooring), can we put lino straight on top of quarry tiles? also could we put ceramic tiles straight on top of the quarry tiles?

Would be grateful of any advise

If going for vinyl you will need to put down a self leveling compound otherwise with time the joints in the quarries will telegraph through the vinyl.

If the quarries are sound you can tile on to but will get a height increase, also they must be free from dirt and old polish.
