Hi all,

I would like to lay vinyl flooring in a number of rooms on a renovation I'm doing. There is an existing ply floor in good condition but I'm pretty sure it's been varnished (is there any simple way of telling?). I don't want to re-ply or add another layer of ply and have read elsewhere that sanding the surface of the varnished ply and coating with an adhesive primer would be enough to ensure a good subfloor for the vinyl tiles.

Can anyone tell me definitively whether this is possible or not and if there's anything I should do to make the process more secure.

Many thanks in advance.
