My roofer wants to fit pre formed GRP valleys instead of lead as "its now standard practice".

1. Is it standard practice?
2. Are they better than lead or just a cheaper/easier to fit alternative?

TIA

GRP is easier and cheaper.

Probably more widely used on concrete tiled re-roofs.

Natural slate or clay tiles have a longer lifespan which would be done in lead.

Depends what you are paying for really.

Its on a slate roof on a 110 yr old property the roofer has suggested this today after quoting for the job in lead.

The lead sheet is around 5 times more expensive than the GRP.

Your quote is for lead.
