Hi. Last night I discovered water dripping from the underside of a Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831. It doesn't seem to be coming from the pipework underneath (all joints seem sound and dry), but from inside and drips out from each side of the casing. It gradually came to a stop this morning while the boiler was off. I switched the boiler on and the dripping started again, dripping every second or so. Now the boiler is off the dripping seems to be slowing down. The water looks clean and is cool (not cold). The function of the boiler doesn't seem to be affected, and the pressure seems okay: the needle is within the grey part of the dial.

Any suggestions as to what it might be? The installer is coming tonight, but if possible I'd like to prepare my wallet for what to expect.

Thanks,

Get it checked out. If you leave it too long it might rust through which could mean new boiler,

well, my wallet's safe for now. the pipe from the heat exchanger to the condensate trap had somehow come loose (I didn't do it, I promise!) at the heat exchanger end causing the leak when the boiler was on. pipe reconnected and problem solved.
