I have a vented hot water (gravity fed)/central heating system. The boiler has been replaced a couple of times but the cylinder and tanks have been in the house for about 50 years. I have just replaced the two tanks with plastic.
Feeling round the back of the cylinder I detected scale on the two heating coil connectors. I cut a hole in the plasterboard to check round the back and saw a massive build up of scale and small leaks.
Question 1 --- Is there anything I can put in the system to effect a temporary seal?
Question 2 --- The feeds to the heating coil are imperial (1 inch). Cold water feed 1inch. Hot water take off 3/4inch. I guess the cylinder is imperial also. I take it there is some serious pipe work "juggling" to fit a new cyclinder.

Thanks

Mike

there are some internal leak sealers on the market.

as for serious pipe juggling - quite possibly, usually systems are upgraded to fully pumped nowadays which may be a bit complicated for a Diy'er ( no disrespect intended)
