Hi

I finally got my boiler sorted with its electrical problem however a dodgy connection on the pump caused the boiler to shut down (heat exchange overheat)

The connection was easily fixed however I am having problems with the pressure in my system.

The cold pressure is 1 bar and when I turn the heating on goes to 2.5 bar. Once the boiler cools down its seems to settle at 0.5 bar which means refilling again to 1 bar. I cant see any leaks from anywhere.

Last night the system went past 3 bar (think i overfilled a little) and there was water appearing next to the boiler rather than discharging outside through the PRV pipe however this seems to have stopped as it has gone below the 3 bar pressure now.

Any ideas?

Check the pressure in the expansion vessel with the system pressure at zero. Should be around 0.7-0.9 Bar.

Search on here for how to do it.

Just checked my PRV outside, theres water leaking out of it at 2.4 bar pressure.

Assume that I should replace the valve?

PRV's should only open at around 3 Bar, so yes as a first repair, replace this.
