Hi All.

Just returned home to find a small puddle under the combi.

It had been playing up slightly at the beginning of the week. Firstly, not able to get C/H, then when trying for hot water would lockout so I would have to reset it.

I have taken the cover off and can see where it is leaking from. Looking at the manual it appears to be the hot water flow micro-switch (there are 3 wires from it -red, white, and black. Just behind this switch i can see the leak.

Whats the best way to fix it. Is it by a new flow switch or replacing the assembly behind which the switch is attached to ? I am an engineer so would feel OK changing non gas related parts.

Thanks

Use your engineering judgement to decide what is leaking !!

Many thanks for your enlightening non pedantic years of experience.

Obviously its not the microswitch, but the assembly behind that is leaking. I need to know what its called and how to replace it.

What I meant was!!

You have the service manual so simply check which part number you require (It really does help when ordering spares)

It is probably the gland but I cant remember if these are availlable separately!
You may have to get a service kit!!

You need the flow switch cover plate. And while your at it replace the diaphragm aswell.

Turn off the water to the boiler and open hot tap to drain. Parts can then be replaced.

If you cant get heating then the micrswitch has probably shorted and also needs replacing.

Takes about 5 mins

Terry. Apologies. I have the manual but it does not show the assembly behind it.

Rob884. Do you know the part numbers of what i need. For the cover plate, diaphragm, and microswitch

Thanks

SOmething odd's going on here. Are there 2 GW Compact 75 types?

The manual/parts list I have doesn't show any diaphragm/microswitch.
It has a DHW turbine thing and no primary flow switch.

But I HAVE changed a diaphragm in one!

Yep defininetly got 2 diagrams - both for GC4704706

customer - I think you'll have to phone GW!

i norm jus change the stuffing box, i use one which is exactly the same part but off a halstead as i neva could find the part no for the compact! oh n use plenty of silicon grease!

ChrisR: the CG no is 47-047-06A 'Compact 75e'

Definately its the hot water flow microswitch and i've identified it in the manual i've got. leak is just behind the switch. It must have also shorted the switch as now no hot water or heating.

I just need to know what parts i need to order (even the halstead part if it also would fit. The cover plate seems to be fixed with 6'ish screws.

Pop down to any PartsCenter usually located with PlumbCenters and they will know what you need. Very common parts. Ive looked in the manual and not all parts are listed.

You could always give Glowworm a call but like i said not difficult parts to get.
