I've had this heater for years, and its never done this before. There is no chimney. The liquid is odourless. There is a low wattage bulb whose heat spins a turbine to create the flickering, all below an orange plastic cover. Everything still works. Wiped it up, and no recurrence. No chance someone spilled anything into it.

Any ideas what's going on? Thanks!

There may be no chance of spilling anything on it, but has something been spilt on the mantelpiece?
