hi,

I have a leak coming through the ceiling and have found 3 small pinholes along the length of the copper expansion pipe going into the hw f&e tank! (Open vented Y plan system)

I'm going to replace the section but am now wondering what's caused it? The house is approx 15 years old and the pipework/joints seem to be in good condition - apart from these pinholes that have appeared! (I've added inhibitor whenever it's been drained down and the water condition seemed ok when I replaced the 3 port last year)?

Is this a warning sign of something drastic going on in the system?!

I'd certainly have it looked at, pinholed copper is a symptom of something going on that isn't right (galvanic or electrolytic) as copper should last a long time without corroding through.
