Hey whats the best way of curing a leak from a central heating pump valve. I think it's coming from the packing gland on the spindle. I have heard tightening the nut on the gland around the spindle can stop the leak. But what if it doesn't? What else can be done. I realy don't want to drain the system down thanks for any help.

You can add twisted PTFE tape under the gland nut and then tighten exactly enough to enable the shaft to still rorate.

What do you mean by under the gland nut? unscrew the gland abit and add some ptfe around the threads of the nut?

Or unscrew it all the way out? Won't this leak alot if I do.
Thanks for any help.

He mean unscrew it all the way out and wrap it round the spindle.
It might leak a little.
It might help if you close the valve.
