I want to change the washer in a kitchen mixer tap (I have changed before abput 10years ago ) but this time i seem to be at a loss as to how to get to the barrell

The taps are clear plastic type

I take the screw out from the top and take the cover off

but then i'm left with a plastic sleeve which still turns the tap on/off - i cant see how to get that portion of the plastic off

it has the screw spindle in the top - which the main tap screws into - then around that is a nut shape - which aligns inside the main tap cover i have removed

i just cant see how to take that sleeve part off ........
i feel it should maybe just pull off - but do not want to break it

I hope i have shown a picture of the tap here

No picture.

The spline adapter should pull off, but might have clips that fit below the splined portion of the spindle and make it harder to remove.

You wouldn't normally need to remove the spine adapter to unscrew the valve body and re-washer it.
