Ok, this evening i notice a dripping noise coming from my vaillant turbomax plus 828e and closer inspection showed water dripping from above the control panel.

i switched off the unit and removed the covers to find the source of the leak.

at the top left there is a copper pipe which joins what i think is the Main heat exchanger, the water is leaking where this copper pipe joins the Main heat exchanger, i dont know if it has a gasket for this joint ? because it looks like a leaking gasket

Is there a simple quick DIY fix for this or is it a major job?

Your RGI will need to replace the O ring Part No. 981151. (pack of 10)

Maybe change the return one too while you've got it drained down.

I now this is an old post but I have the same thing on my 828e except in my case an RGI came and replaced the O rings today. He checked it, left and it was ok for a few hours but now the cold water inlet is leaking again. I watched what he did and just wondered if there's a knack to attaching the wire clips - it obviously isn't sealing and the plumber said it wasn't a very satisfying fit in that there's nothing to tighten - you just clip on and hope it seals. But it's not...
Any advice before I call him back?
I just don't know what he'd do differently if I get him back is the problem.

yes turn the water off an ring him back, if its leaking it may jump off the o ring an u get very very wet
