Hi everyone.

I need you advice with this combi i've inherited, as just moved in.

Over the past couple of days i've noticed its been leaking. I have removed the cover to take a look.

I have found the leak which i think is on the diverter assembly. I'll describe it to make sure. Its on the left hand side and attached to it is a metal 'fulcrum' bar which in turn is linked to a larger assembly.

The leak is at the top of this assembly. It looks like its held in place with four screws. I'm assuming that there must be a seal/gasket/washer behind which has perished. There is no water dripping from the central pin.

I have drained the system down ( installing a new rad anyway). Could someone tell me what part i need and should i replace the insides of this diverter at the same time.

PS: I tried tightening the screws but it didnt work :)

there is a seal behind it, I cannot remember what it looks like tho! or if you can get the part but am sure there must be a service kit for it. Some of the other guys might know if you can get service kit for it. In my book it shows it as part number 7135

Thanks for the reply.

i've had a look on the vokerra site and downloaded the manual. Think i've found the seal, it looks like a large and small o ring joined together in a figure of eight shape??

Is that the one??. Is it easy to replace (my local heating stockist has one in stock). One of those screws looks difficult to get at (the one behing the pressure release valve - lol).

Cheers

Yes, I think its the figure of eight seal.

I always find working on that model rather fiddly. You need good access underneath and some space on the left.

I did one recently which was on an open wall. That was great but many are boxed in and they can be very difficult.

Its much easier if you can find a way to move the control panel out of the way.

Again, thanks for the reply. I've picked up the service kit. Had a look. The only bit that looks a little confusing is a white plastic bit. Cant see this listed in the parts section of the manual so it must replace something.

Could someone let me know where it goes? I would think somewhere in the diverter on the bottom left.

Mark

the white plastic bit goes inside the housing on the LHS of the fulcrum arm, you have to fit the flat washer to the end and the round washer half way up, look at the old one when it comes out and refit in reverse order,

Also!!! when replacing the gland nuts take the old aluminium washers off the old ones and refit as they dont come as part of the kit!!!!

Post your location and get one of the regulars to service the boiler. If the boiler is leaking at the diverter, there will be other components that may not be working as expected.

Tony, Excel is a great boiler to work on with great access to all parts. Cannot see why you think different.
