Hi all. I've taken this tap apart to see what's occurring. When installed it leaks just a smidgen at the swivel point when you knock the top section. I was thinking perished washer, but it seems not so.

The pohotos show 1-where the leak happens and 2 the top washer which seals the tap chamber from the outside world.

The top washer is what is leaking. Should I tape around it to make it fatter? Prise it off and try to fit another with the same inner but wider outer diameter? Any ideas? The tap still needs to swivel, so I can't just silicone the joint!

Grateful as ever

1. As jj4091 says, new O rings for a proper fix.
2. As an interim measure, you could try removing the O rings, wrapping some PTFE tape (5 to 8 wraps?) into the grooves, then refitting the O rings.

Another temp fix would be to pack it with silicone grease, it sometimes helps the o-rings seal more tightly.

How old is it though, does it owe you anything?

Thanks. I now know that they are called o-rings and the ptfe temp fix has worked. Not sure how old they are, we've rented the place for 3 years and I reckon the previous owners did it maybe 7 years ago? The orings still seemed nice and squidgy, but I guess they only need to let a tiny bit through eh? I will source new rings. Thanks all!
