Hi all,

Im looking and building a lean too on the side of the garage, sort of a car port.

I’m after some timbers to span 5.3 meters?

the structure will be 5.3 x 5.3

It’s only going to have black bitumen sheets on top. So not much weight material wise, going to be at a 5 degree pitch.

Would a 6x2 be strong enough to take the weight?

That should be plenty unless you get a load of snow and then it might be wise to prop it till the snow melts.

Would be best to have a roof construction that allows for snow loading :!: There are engineering types on here who can advise if they see fit. Wouldn't you propose what I would cause purlins to support corrugated roof sheeting rather than joists :?::!:
