I have a LED wall cabinet for the bathroom with a shaver socket inside that I want to install. My plan was to make a hole at the back of the cabinet then route the cable up to the loft and wire it in to a junction box connected to an existing light circuit.

After I made the hole in the bathroom I tried to route a fish tape up the hole to make sure the cable could go up there but after about 4 inches there is what I think is a wooden joist that runs along the wall so i can't get past it. Is my only option to cut a hole where I think the joist is, drill a hole through it and then refill the hole afterwards? What are the chances of another joist running across the top of the wall? What is the best way to go about this?

It depends on your confidence. There may be a joist along the top of the wall or they may not be.

How far down the wall from the ceiling is the first joist you have found?

Pics might help, but are you talking about a stud partition internal wall. If you are it may be that you have hit a noggin. If that is how it is then you will probably run into the same thing at the top pf the wall that you will have to drill down through from the loft.
But yes you can just use a long bit and drill through the noggin at a very steep angle and pass the cable through. You'll probably be best feeding a load of string through first then try and hook it up via the hole in the loft with a stiff wire. Then tie the cable to it and get someone to feed it in while you gently pull upwards from the loft. Make both holes as big as you can, but at least 25mm

This where I’m trying to run the cable through. Behind that plasterboard there’s about a 2 inch gap and then wall. If if connect it with wago’s and then put that in a wago box can I leave that in the void or does it have to be in the loft?

Yes does look look like an outside wall but I guess it has been insulated and framed so as long as you can reach if there aree low eaves then the same applies. You may be able to make your connections at the ceiling rose if there is a neutral there so no need for wagos then.
How would you get a cable from the light down the void without coming through the loft

I’m planning on running it through the loft and down the void just didn’t know if I could leave the connection in the void or if I had to secure it in the loft.

Why would you need it in the void if you can get to a ceiling rose. You need to establish where you are going to get your supply from

Right, sorry I’ve not explained this very well. The cable from the cabinet is only about a metre long. I’m running some twin and earth cable from the ceiling rose to the cabinet cable and I’m going to join the connections with wagos and put them in a wago box. It would be easier if I could run the cable from them the ceiling rose across the loft and join to the cabinet cable then leave it in the void behind the wall as it would give me much more slack but at a struggle I could join it in the loft and mount the junction up there. I didn’t know if one was safer than the other or I could do whichever is easier.
