Just had a Legionella risk assessment done and plumber says the flexible pipes connecting the copper pipes to the taps need replacing. Does anyone know do they have to be replaced with copper pipe or are there WRAS flexible pipes that satisfy the Legionella regs?

Thanks

There are WRAS flexi pipes.

How did he determine they needed to be replaced?

There is a bit in the risk assessment about avoiding flexis where possible, your plumber seems to have interpreted this as flexis not allowed.

Yes there are WRAS approved flexible connectors available.

The main contributor to Legionella is poor system design.

...or simply temperature issues....bundles scaled...failed circulators etc etc..the list goes on...
Rarely a system design issue.

If a system is designed correctly with secondary circulation running constantly at the correct temperature, no long "dead legs" where tepid water can stand and encourage legionella to breed. Short draw offs via a TMV2 mixing valve and cold water pipes kept away from hot water or heating pipes, you should be ok.
Failed circulators etc should be spotted fairly quickly.

We attend commercial sites on a regular basis carrying out repairs due to failed circulators/boilers etc...
Turn around time for replacement parts is not always 'next day' , especially so when heat exchanger bundles have to made to order...
Domestic installations are not regulated/maintained when compared to commercial installations although rarely has there been an outbreak of legionella in the domestic field...........I fail to see your point to be honest..
