We have a tiled conservatory and the grout between the tiles is slighty below tile level. A carpet installer said if we wanted thinner vinyl we should put down a leveling compund over the whole floor to cover the grouting indents as eventually they would show through. The grout is around 1mm below tile level. Is this the best approach?

Self leveling compound then vinyl flooring.
Tiles will be gone though. You won't be able to remove self leveling compound

Ty the tiles are mostly in good nick - a couple with hairline cracks. As ever like for like replacements impossible to find. We were interested in vinyl for a bit of warmth so maybe an underlay would be a better option?
