I have built a 10m x 5m sheet steel workshop that is off grid. I have fitted three 5ft fluorescent strip lights. The workshop is powered by a 6kva generator. the problem is that if I switch the lights on and then power up the 2000 watt saw the lights go out and are reluctant to come on again. I think they are switch start lamps. I am a carpenter not an electrition. can anyone out there help me please? What lights would you recomend?

Better to ask on the sparks forum.
You probably need a bigger generator or soft start on the 2000w motor.
Same happens in our shed with a 100kva generator which is pretty big.
But then the motor starting up is about 30000w. We just live with it.
