i want to install some lighting in the loft i am using the grey cables and i have a switch which has one hole at the top and hole at the bottom. how am i supposed to connect it and am i using the right cable or is it two thick. at the moment i have two cables coming one coming from the consumer unit and the other going to the lights. i want to install three lights in the same room shall i just connect them together i.e. connect to one and then from there put another cable in which goes to the other one and then stop at the last one?

You need 1mm/sq Twin and Earth.
You may link from one light to the next.
The feed from the CU can be taken to the switch, and from the switch to the lights.
You need to join the neutrals and earths at the switch with a terminal block(you may also need to earth the switch or back box if metal). the live from the CU and the live from the lights can go to either terminal of the switch (seperatley).
You need a 5 or 6amp device in the CU.

What is being suggested here is loop-through-switch, rather than loop-through-rose - for a loft light this is more appropriate, as the supply comes from below.
