Lino flooring is 2mm too low

Hi,

The lino flooring in a large room is too low, resulting in metal floor fixtures protruding 2mm from the surface.

The height of the metal floor fixtures cannot be changed, and it has been sugggested that I have a diminishing strip to cover the protruding fixture. I'd ideally like to avoid having the diminishing strip as it in the middle of a room which will hopefully have a heavy footfall.

I am very much an amateur and wondered in relaying the lino with a 2mm underlay was a good idea or not? Or whether anyone had any other suggestions as to effective solutions of essentially raising the lino 2mm.

Have you thought of laying a liminate floor instead? or simply laying another lino on top?

I dont understand your post OP.
You dont use underlay under sheet vinyl - underlayment boards yes but not 2mm "underlay".
I'd suggest a photo of your floor showing the "metal floor fixture(s?).
