i'm still in the early planning stages of giving my tired kitchen a cheap make-over until i've saved enough to completely re-fit (2/3 years away).

Is it a good idea to lay another layer of lino / vinyl over my existing lino or will i need to remove the old stuff and all the sticky /lumpy adhesive underneath ?

any suggestions welcome.

Any dirt, lumps or worn patches will eventually show through the new lino with time and traffic

I'm no expert but you could perhaps get away with leaving the old stuff down if you lay some underlay over it before putting the new stuff down.
