I'm looking to make a 'loft' shelf in my garage to store my extra timber and steel. Span is about 10ft and max load will be about 450lbs between 2 beams
225lbs per beam.

i figured i need steel because i have very little head room i also figured a -lipped-c section would be lighter than an I-beam. but can't find much info on C-lipped steel sections and their specifications.

Anyone know how i can work it out or have any ideas?

I think you mean cold rolled C purlins, try urm Metsec or Kingspan websites
If not then hot rolled PFC?
