I think it's because you cannot get your point over without being patronising and thinking you are superior.
And if you think anyone listens to your lording it, then you're on the wrong forum.
If you think that dispelling urban mythology with reference to genuine documents is "being patronising, thinking one is superior, or lording it over anyone else", then you're on the wrong page.

No, he is implying.
Both infer and imply is correct.
He is inferring...he is deducing incorrectly.
He is implying... he is suggesting incorrectly.

Because it is different to what you would have written, does not make it incorrect.

I could have as easily written:
Are you deducing that the mods do not like urban mythology to be demolished by genuine quotes of real facts from original sources?
Have your office staff explain it to you.

Both infer and imply is correct.

Wrong :ROFLMAO:
Both cant be correct.

You shouldve asked Santa for a new dictionary. One that doesnt spout rubbish (y)

Hint:
Both verbs have to do with the communication of information. The difference between the two is that imply refers to giving information, while infer refers to receiving information

Your definitions may be correct. They may even be relevant.
ihavenojob does seem to have difficulty receiving information, unless it's urban mythology, or arriving at incorrect assumptions (hint - connected to receiving information) then his ability magically increases.
He has arrived at incorrect assumptions, therefore he has inferred incorrectly.

Your resorting to infanities yet again (pay attention Ian ;)) demonstrates the fragility of your argument.
