Next question, thanks for all the help so far...........
We have an 8mm microbore system. We need a new boiler (probably not a combi......) The system is OLD. So far we have flushed the system with a cleaner, removed and cleaned out every single radiator individually (and both manifolds), replaced them and run and flushed them until the water is virtually clear. Some very slight discolouration in suspension which quickly clears.
We intend to have a new boiler and new radiators and we understand that we must have TRVs on all but one radiator. Do we need lockshields on each radiator for a microbore system which distributes water to each radiator separately? The main reason seems to be for balancing all the radiators in a circuit or have I missed the point?

in a round about way are you saying you have twin entry valves at present ?

if you didn't have lockshields fitted at the other end what do you think the alternative might be ?
