Lockshield valves

Hi,
I am trying to balance my rads, unforntunaley the plastic caps are missing so I'm not sure which is the lockshield valve. Is it on the flow as I think ?.
Whats the easiest best way to identify and adjust.

Thanks in anticipation.
 
that's if there piped up right, ( unless you have duel flow valves ) one way to test which side the flow is, turn your heating on and see which tube on your rad gets hot first,
